MEMORIAL TREE:  In December, please make a $5 donation on our Memorial tree.  Folders will be placed at businesses in Kulm for the public to make a donation.  Notices will be sent home with the students to write down the name of their loved one.  These names can be turned in to their teachers along with $5 per name.  A volunteer will pick them up from teachers and businesses and place the named bell on a tree on display at Hometown Credit Union in Kulm, ND.  Your donation in memory of a loved one will be published in the Kulm Messenger in late December or January.

Brandy and Marie at ND Conference 2013                 Brandy and Marie with members of ND Dollars for Scholars.  KADFS received a $1000 scholarship for attending the conference.

Max Espinoza, Senior VP, Bob Allen, and Lauren Segal, Scholarship America

Keynote Speaker Max Espinoza, Senior VP of Education Programs & Policy, Bob Alin, a Lamoure native started chapters in ND,  and Lauren Segal, President/CEO of Scholarship America were present at the ND Dollars for Scholars Conference in Bismarck.

On November 2nd,  Brandy and Marie attended the North Dakota Dollars for Scholars Conference in Bismarck.  Fifty-nine chapters out of 81 were represented at the conference.  It was a very informational and inspiring event.  We were able to see Dr. Irving Fradkin on the Katie Couric show.  Scholarship America supporter Katie Couric featured our founder, Dr. Irving Fradkin, on her nationwide daytime talk show, Katie!  In addition to a video profile and in-studio interviews, the show provided Dr. Fradkin a surprise:  scholarship recipients from 1961 to the present came out to thank him for his life's work.  Katie announced the opening of the Scholarship America Dream Award.  This scholarship, which she supports through proceeds from her book "The Best Advice I Ever Got", provides funding for students after their freshman year of college, when financial aid is often all too hard to come by.  For those of you who were unable to catch the segment,  here is the link to view it:  Kati Couric
